Virtual Trail

Have you have ever thought about throwing all of your possessions into the back of your car and heading out for parts unknown? If so, then you already know the feeling that propelled hundreds of thousands of emigrants westward in the mid-1800s.

OCTA invites you to take a virtual tour of the trail with us. You may begin the tour by clicking on any of the sites on the map below.

Once you have traveled the virtual trail, consider going out on the trails themselves. But when you go, don’t forget these rules of the road.

  • Respect private landowner rights
  • Never remove any artifacts
  • Know your route and the conditions you can expect
  • Take maps, water, food, a hat, sunscreen, and bug juice
  • Make sure someone knows where you plan to go
  • Leave only your footprints take only your photographs
  • Bring your imagination!
