Glenn is a retired high school and community college teacher. For five years he served on the school board, nine years on a city budget committee, and seven years on the Oregon Education Association Board, with three years on the National Education Association Board. He has much experience dealing with pension, personnel, and standards and practices issues.
2003 marked his second year as President of OCTA's Northwest Chapter. Prior to that, he served 8 years as the chapter VP, responsible for outings and activities. He also served as a chapter director for 2 years.
Glenn worked on the 1993 Baker City convention and arranged the presenters at the 1998 convention in Pendleton. He has assisted with COED and surveyed Oregon Trail markers in the Northwest. Having four Oregon Trail ancestors boosted Glenn's interest in the trails. He owns an extensive collection of trail-related books and has edited the newsletter for the Linn County Historical Society for 12 years. He is a liaison to the Oregon Historic Trails Advisory Council and reviews grant applications for the Oregon Historic Trails Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation. Glenn is chair of the Linn County Historical Museum Commission and vice-chair of the county Historic Resources Commission.
